Philips Rolls Out Single-Transducer Ultrasound for OB/GYN Imaging

Philips expanded its OB/GYN portfolio by introducing its new eV14-2v transvaginal transducer. The transducer is U.S. Food and Drug Administration (FDA) 510(k) cleared and CE marked and will be highlighted at the 36th International Society of Ultrasound in Obstetrics and Gynecology (ISUOG) World Congress.

Balancing penetration and image resolution can require switching transducers, disrupting workflow and lengthening exams. The eV14-2v was engineered to combine deeper penetration, higher resolution, and a wider field of view in a lightweight, ergonomic design.

According to the company, it provides 41.7% more penetration, 10% higher 2D resolution, a 15.8% wider field of view, and a 22% weight reduction for routine and complex gynecology and early obstetrics imaging.

eV14-2v uses PureWave crystal technology and a lightweight, ergonomic design for user comfort. It offers detailed visualization to assess infertility, pelvic pain, endometriosis, and fibroids. Its 2D and color imaging capabilities also support fetal abnormality detection, including visualization of cardiac chambers as early as 13 weeks, Philips said.

To expand access to specialty care in remote areas, the transducer also leverages the company’s Collaboration Live for real-time, remote consults during ultrasound exams.
